Globes offer hi-tech peek at Earth

BOULDER CREEK — When Alan Folmsbee quit his Silicon Valley electrical engineering job, he went looking for the most scientifically advanced globe he could find. Surely, thought the lifelong aficionado of globes and maps, someone
must have recently come out with some highly evolved products.
Instead, with one exception, he found the same relief globe at toy stores that he had touched as a child.
